How to import Contacts, Calendar events, Mail, Tasks and Notes using Entourage (Exchange 2007)

• Synopsis

  This guide will show you how to import Contacts, Calendar events, Mail, Tasks and Notes using Entourage.

• Applicable to

  All SherWeb hosted Exchange 2007 accounts.

• Prerequisite

  • Entourage 2004 or Entourage 2008
  • a SherWeb hosted Exchange 2007 account

• How to

  1. Open Entourage.
  2. Go to File - Import.
  3. Select Entourage information from an archive or earlier version and click the right arrow.
  4. Select the origin of the files you wish to import, the click on the right arrow.

  Note: The next steps will differ, depending on whether you selected to import from an Entourage Archive file (.rge) or from another version of Entourage.

  Importing items from an Entourage Archive file

  5. You will be asked to choose the Entourage Archive that you wish to import. Find the .rge file on your computer, then click on import.

  Note: If an archived item already exists in your Entourage database, you will be asked whether you want to skip its importation or replace the existing item. If you choose to replace, the information in your database will be replaced permanently by the information in the archive.

  6. Click on Done

  5. You will be asked to select the items that you want to import. Keep all the boxes checked unless there is something that you don’t want to import (preferences, for instance), then click the right arrow.

  Note: Entourage will automatically look in the default folder for existing identities that you can import. Select the identity that you wish to import. If the identity that you are looking for does not appear in the list, click on browse and find it on your computer.

  6. Click on the right arrow.
  7. Click on OK
  8. Click on Finish

  If a question pops up telling you that Entourage was redirected to a server and asking you if you want to allow this server to configure your settings, click on deny.

  Note: It is also possible to import information from Apple Mail, Qualcomm Eudora 5.0 and other applications. To do this, at the third step of this FAQ, you must select Information from another application.
